A census of carriage road use during the winter. The Executive summary: "On February 26, 2005, we conducted a census of winter visitors to the carriage roads at the six main winter access points. We counted visitors entering the system between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. by type of use and recorded other visitor use data and observations. "Almost 300 skiers entered the carriage roads, and the vast majority used three locations - Eagle Lake, Brown Mountain, and Parkman Mountain. Carriage roads at Brown and Parkman Mountain are groomed regularly and were groomed this day. Those around Eagle Lake and Duck Brook Bridge are groomed less often, and were not groomed on this day. "Slightly over 50 walkers and 50 snowshoers entered the carriage roads. Most walkers were at Eagle Lake and Duck Brook Bridge. Most snowshoers entered at Jordan Pond.
