A description of hiker use of mountain summits during 2004 and 2005. Following taken from summary: 'Friends of Acadia Ridgerunners and park volunteers made hourly counts of hikers reaching the summits of Beech, Dorr, Gorham, and Sargent Mountains between late May and early September of 2004 and 2005. Counts on the first three of these summits were for 3 consecutive hours beginning at 11:00 a.m. or 12:00 noon. Counts on Sargent Mountain were for six hours beginning at 10:00 a.m. We counted on Sargent Mountain eight times in 2004, but none in 2005 hours; we counted on Beech Mountain 26 times, Dorr Mountain 21 times, and Gorham Mountain 27 times in 2004 and 2005.' /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/Beech Mountain/Door Mountain/Gorham Mountain/Sargent Mountain/
