Following taken from executive summary: 'Eight exotic plant species were managed in Acadia National Park in 2004. Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria), a non-native invasive plant species, was actively managed on Mount Desert Island within Acadia National Park in 2004, as it has been since 1988 (...). Additionally, one L. salicaria populations outside park boundaries received some type of management. Only the Mount Desert Island portion of the park is known to contain purple loosestrife. Schoodic Peninsula, Isle au Haut, and other Park managed island remain free of this pest species.'... Loosestrife stems were sprayed with 1% glyphosate herbicide solution. ...'Seven other invasive species received some type of management in 2004: Coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara), garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolata), shrub honeysuckle (Lonicera morrowii), foxglove (Digitalis purpurea), giant hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum), yellow iris (Iris pseudacorus), and lupine (Lupinus polyphyllus). ' Report details areas surveyed, managed, and the details of any management.
