From abstract: ...'This report summarizes the current state of knowledge for the butterfly species of Maine and highlights species of conservation concern.' Report includes a checklist of species reported in Maine and their status, status of each species in each county, narratives for each species of rare butterfly, and township distribution maps for each species of butterfly. Of the 35 species of butterflies considered rare in Maine, the following have been recorded from Mount Desert Island: Leonard's Skipper (Hesperia leonardus) = historic record; Northern Broken-Dash (Wallengrenia egeremet) = unconfirmed record; Spicebush Swallowtail (Papilio troilus) = historic record; Henry's Elfin (Callophrys henrici) = unconfirmed record; Bog Elfin (Callophrys lanoraieensis) = historic record; Early hairstreak (Erora laeta) = unconfirmed record; Greenish Blue (Plebejus saepiolus amica) = Historic record; /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/SCHOODIC PENINSULA/ISLE AU HAUT/
