The principal investigator was Dr. Durland Fish, Yale School of Medicine, 60 College St. Room 600, New Haven, CT 06520. This was a Center for Disease Control funded study; Acadia was just one of many collecting sites around the country. Field work was conducted during the summer of 2006. The purpose of the study was to measure the risk of Borrelia spirochete transmission to humans from Ixodes scapularis ticks throughout its geographic range in the U.S. and to develop and validate a spatially explicit risk model based upon vector population density and Borrelia infection prevalence. Materials included here: study proposal and methods, collecting sites in Acadia NP, data sheets from tick sampling in the park, tick species collected in the park, photographs of sampling transects in the park, and a copy of a publication resulting from this study.'
