Preserving Historic Trails reports on conference proceedings from October 2000. The idea for a national conference on historic trails followed questions that were raised during the planning process for Acadia National Park's trail system. It covered a broad range of topics from documentation to treatment planning. There are seven different articles by various authors printed in the report; Scope and Research for the Acadia Trails Cultural Landscape Report by Margie Coffin Brown, Documenting Acadia National Parks Historic Hiking Trial System: Multiple Property Listing and National Register Nominations by Lauren Meier, Treatment and Maintenance Guidelines by J. Tracy Stakely, Information Management: Trail Crew Inventory by Gary Stellpflug, Jordan Pond Rehabilitation Project by Chris Barter, Acadia's Hiking Trails Management Plan by Judy Hazen Connery, Charlie Jacobi, and Gary Stellpflug, and Acadia Trails Forever. A $13-Million Public-Private Campaign to Rehabilitate Acadia's 130-mile Historic Trail System by W. Kent Olson.
