'...Responding to these concerns, this research was sponsored by the NPS to develop trail and campsite impact assessment procedures for Isle au Haut (IAH), Acadia National Park. The study had two objectives: Objective 1: Develop, pilot test, and refine cost effective and scientifically defensible trail and campsite condition assessment procedures. Objective 2: Initiate a long-term IAH visitor impact monitoring program by applying the procedures to all IAH trails and campsites. Prepare a technical report that compiles, analyzes and presents results and management implications.
