Water Birds of Penobscot Bay
Hebard FV. 1959. Water Birds of Penobscot Bay. Portland Society of Natural History. Portland, Maine
Notes on historical numbers of birds in the Penobscot Bay area 'The Maine Coast from Owl's Head northeast to Schoodic and west to Boothbay Harbor is easily the most beautiful vacation land in the United States and perhaps in the world. North of Penobscot Bay the bird life has been covered by "Birds of Mt. Desert Island, Acadia National Park, Maine" by Carroll S. Tyson and James Bond (1941). West of Owl's Head, Allan D. Cruickshank has recorded the summer birdlife in "Summer Birds of Lincoln County, Maine" (1951). This paper attempts to fill part of the gap in between. /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /ISLE AU HAUT/ISLANDS/Great Spoon Island/
