FIELD WORK: July 1974 - April 1976. FISH: Notes that Landlocked Smelt growth has decreased since the introduction of alewives and is a result of competition for food. Notes that Rainbow trout and Sunapee trout were introduced in 1974. Smelt and alewives were caught by gill netting, seining, and trawling. Lists lengths and weight of fish, food weights, and the time period of food availability. INVERTEBRATES: Contains detailed charts of the stomach contents of smelts and alewives. Species noted include: Copepoda, Bivalvia, Hydracarina, Arancida, Turbellaria, Oligochaeta, Nematoda, Rotifera, Harpacticoida, and Ostracoda are all noted but not identified to species. Identifies the following to species: Bryozoa (1), Calanoida (2), Cyclopoida (4), Cladocera (17), Isopoda (1), Amphipoda (1). INSECTS & ARACHNIDS: Diptera (0), Ephemeroptera, Hemiptera, Hymenoptera, Neuroptera, Odonata, Psociptera, Trichoptera. Not identified to species. Coleoptera (1) Insect?? FLORA - ALGAE: Filamentous algae and diatoms (not identified to species) were noted in the fish stomachs sampled /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/Echo Lake/
