'One of the goals of this study was to isolate marine filamentous Oomycetes from the Maine coast and to grow them in axenic culture. Three fungi, Haliphthoros milfordensis Vishniac, Atkinsiella dubia (Atkins) Vishniac, and Lagenidium sp. were isolated and cultured in order to study life history patterns, morphology and development, and the effects of environmental factors, especially temperature and salinity, on survival and growth.' Algal samples were collected from a tide pool near Thunder Hole and two species of fungi (Haliphthoros milfordensis and Atkinsiella dubia) were isolated from these specimens. Predominant algae were Cladophora sp., Rhizoclonium sp., and Acrosiphonia spinescens collected from the shallower levels of the tide pool. Also Chaetomorpha melagonium, Alaria esculenta, and Laminaria digitata were collected from deeper levels of the tide pools /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/Thunder Hole/
