FIELD WORK: August 31, 1986. WATER QUALITY: Describes results of limited nutrient and bacterial surveys completed in the northern region of Somes Sound. All samples were analyzed for total and fecal coliform, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, orthophosphate, silicate, and oxygen profiles. Noted an increase in ammonia concentrations with depth. The Somesville sewer effluents were not found to have a major influence on the nutrient distribution within the Sound /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/Somes Sound
