From Introduction, 'Studied migration of raptors from Beech Mountain. A total of 1864 raptors were seen and identified.' 'During the late summer and early fall of 1988 a hawk watch was held on Beech Mt. A total of 205 hours were spent over a 31 day period, during which 1864 raptors were seen. The data indicate a significant association between the migration patterns of the American Kestrel and the Sharp Shinned Hawk. Species diversity was found to be relatively independent of the total number of raptors seen. Wind direction and temperature may also have an effect on migration, but our data base was too small to draw a conclusion.' /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/Beech Mountain/
