A description of the topography and ecology of Long Porcupine Island. FIELD WORK: 1978. BIRDS: The following species were or have nested (unless noted) on Long Porcupine Island: Black-crowned Night Herons, Osprey, Black Guillemots (5-10 nests), Bald Eagles (roosting location), and Double-crested Cormorants (roosting location). GEOLOGY: Island is composed mostly of a diorite sill. Also contains a spectacular cave. SOILS: Contains a very general soil description. FLORA - VASCULAR: Notes 56 species found on Long Porcupine Island (including Iris setosa var. canadensis). Categorizes each species as present, common, or rare. MAMMALS: Deer are noted as being present on Long Porcupine Island /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /ISLANDS/Long Porcupine Island/
