FIELD WORK: 7 April - 14 May, 1954. Using the simplified Shaler Aldous Method, 10 key browse species were assessed for density and degree of browsing at 32 transects. 329 browse plots, of 1/100 acres each, were studied during this survey. Raw data is presented. Annual browsing intensity, as determined from the study of 7 unburned transects studied since 1944, showed no change in browsing level from 1950-54, accept at Acadia Mountain which received increased browsing /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/Sargent Mountain/Acadia Mountain/China Hill/Cadillac Mountain/Manset/Seawall/Oak Hill/Pine Hill
