'The program is based on the collection of visible and cellular-level ozone damage symptoms on eastern white pine and other species'. A proposal to develop a six year program (Aug. 1989 - Sept. 1994) for the study of ozone effects on vegetation, particularly white pine and red spruce, at Acadia National Park. Project will: fumigate native plants with ozone, plant a biomonitoring garden, establish permanent plots, and conduct a genetic diversity analysis. Goals are to develop a baseline data set for plant sensitivity to ozone; determine relative ozone sensitivity of representative plants in Acadia; and establish permanent plots for long-term study of the effects of ozone.
