BIRDS: First recorded case of avian cholera was in 1963 on Goose Island, East Goose Rock, and Robinson Rock. After diagnosis, all remaining birds on the infected islands were destroyed, all carcasses, eggs, and nests were burned and water holes were disinfected with a cresylic compound. Again in 1970 and 1974, avian cholera was found in the Muscle Ridge area. In 1980 a total of 2561 birds died on 16 islands in Blue Hill Bay. Carcasses were collected, recorded, and incinerated, and freshwater pools on the islands were decontaminated /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /ISLANDS/Penobscot Bay/Blue Hill Bay/Ship Island/Trumpet Island/
