'This list is based primarily on James Bond's 1958 Birds of Mount Desert Island which listed 268 species.' Lists the species found in Acadia National Park, notes whether the species is a summer resident, transient, winter resident or visitor, or rare visitor. From Introduction, 'Listed here are 314 species plus an additional 4 subspecies. Of these, 178 occur in this area more or less regularly during one part of the year or another. A total of 182 birds have been recorded as occurring in summer, of which 130 species have nested. 149 have been recorded in winter.
