A report detailing the purple loosestrife management efforts in Acadia National Park. FLORA - VASCULAR: Describes the implementation of the Purple Loosestrife management program in Acadia National Park in 1988. Notes that mechanical removal of Beaver dams and lodges in the Bear Brook watershed in the late 1970's seems to have resulted in the proliferation of Purple Loosestrife in this location. Purple Loosestrife is currently located in 6 wetlands in the Park. Describes the 1989 monitoring effort including stem counts on all of the permanent grids and the 1989 suppression effort including spraying plants with herbicide.
