'One shore-based survey of the entire western shore of Petit Manan Point was conducted on January 30, 1997. In addition, Park lands on Schoodic Peninsula (including Little Moose Island) were searched on February 9. No harlequins were observed during either of these surveys.' One shore-based survey of the south end of Isle au Haut was conducted; 196 harlequins were observed. Male harlequins outnumbered females (1.09:1) during this count. 9.9% of the males observed were young birds. Two boat surveys were conducted between Penobscot Bay and Jericho Bay. During one of these surveys, a total of 649 harlequins were counted. /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /ISLE AU HAUT/ISLANDS/
