A browse survey of 30 tree and shrub species was conducted on winter feeding areas: Young's Mountain, Lakewood, Western Mountain, and Sargent Mountain. Assesses degree of browsing on each species as either light, moderate or heavy. Notes no immediate danger of harmful over browsing to forest growth on Mount Desert Island as a whole. Notes fewer fawns than expected given evident abundance of adults. Suggests emigration or subnormal birth rates may be the cause
