Report of a ground survey on insect and disease conditions in Acadia National Park. INSECTS & ARACHNIDS: Aerial surveys were made of Mount Desert Island to identify outbreaks of insect pests. Four areas totaling 500 acres were defoliated by Gypsy Moth and Spruce Budworm at Bass Harbor and Uncle Dick Hill. Contains a map of Gypsy Moth defoliation areas. Beech bark disease was heavy on trees near Long Pond.
