Deep Creek Fish Community Survey Report

Kulp M and Moore S. 2011. Deep Creek Fish Community Survey Report. Great Smoky Mountains National Park

During a meeting in NC, several local residents raised the concern that fish communities in lower Deep Creek appeared to have noticeably declined in recent years. Although data from other GRSM large stream communities did not indicate such declines, GRSM fishery managers agreed to try to re-sample some historic Deep Creek sample sites to determine the status of the fish communities. The following report is a brief overview of the results of those samples, with additional comparison to survey data from the same sites conducted in 1985.
