On February 4, 1999 Mike Sellers and I, representing Chevron U.S.A. Inc., attended a meeting hosted by you at the Padre Island National Seashore park headquarters. The topic of discussion was the Chevron shore base facility within the park that had been previously abandoned in 1985 and site closure accepted on October 2, 1986. At that meeting in 1999 Chevron voluntarily agreed to perform remediation at the site with the goal of achieving natural plant growth in the area where there was none, primarily the location of the old pit. The remediation activity was to be conducted in order to restore the natural aesthetic value of the area due to its proximity to a historic line camp from the cattle herding era.
