Burns at Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve (TAPR), Kansas were coordinated and conducted through a Training Exchange Program (TREX). TREX is an interagency program funded by cooperative agreement between the USDA Forest Service, Department of Interior and The Nature Conservancy. The program, led by Jeremy Bailey, was designed to facilitate learning and aid participants in completing National Wildfire Working Group (NWCG) task books while accomplishing locally scheduled burns. The program was scheduled for March 28 through April 8th, 2011. Burns were planned at TAPR and Flint Hills and Marais des Cygnes refuges through this cooperation. White Memorial Camp, Council Grove, Kansas served as the base of operations.
