The Fort at Frederica
Manucy AC. 1962. The Fort at Frederica. Notes in Anthropology. Department of Anthropology, Florida State University. Tallahassee, FL
From the preface: I first saw Fort Frederica about 1940, when the lonely little tabby ruin on the river bank was ''the fort." The earthworks of the true fort were no longer visible, but the great live oaks and the broad span of the unchanged marshes gave the place a quality of quiet antiquity which promised a rewarding experience for those who would learn more of the story. The promised experience has indeed been rewarding, and the present report is an attempt to set down what we have learned about Fredericats fort. Thus the store of knowledge, td which so many have contributed, may readily be available to others, in measure large or small, as they wish.
