This data set represents the most current depiction of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail land base, those lands that the Appalachian Trail traverses, along with some very nearby protected lands. Locational information used to create this data set were derived from information provided by the National Park Service, National Park Service A.T. Land Acquisition Office, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, the United States Forest Service, United States Fish and Wildlife Service, State Agencies, as well as several private organizations. The land area is intersected by HUC10 hydrologic units to create polygon segments along the ANST.
