A portion from the Executive Summary: "July carriage road visitation in 2010 was among the busiest we have seen since monitoring began in 1995. Mean daily use was estimated at 1,752 visitors and six days exceeded 2,000 visitors per day. August carriage road visitation was substantially higher than any previous August since monitoring began in 1995, and perhaps outside the range of normal variation. Mean daily use for August was estimated at 2,209 visitors (141 more per day than 2008, the previous high average) and twenty-two days exceeded 2,000 visitors per day, with the season's highest daily use at 3,224 on Tuesday August 17, the only day exceeding 3,000 visitors. Although the regression equation predicted more than 3,000 visitors on August 17, we did not exceed 3,000 based on a one tailed 80% confidence interval test. Sixteen days of plus 3,000 visitation meeting the 80% confidence level test are required before standards are violated. Thus, PPV standards for crowding were not violated in 2010. Mean daily use for the past five Augusts have been consistently higher than most previous years and there is now a definite trend of increasing use in August since 2004.
