This is a brief report on a trip to Cadillac Mountain and the follow up meeting to asses its use and management recommendations. Recommendations: 1) Develop a Restoration or Management Plan for the Cadillac Mountain Area: They continue to discuss the outline for the plan and note that there seemed to be conflicting messages about the management goals of the area; therefore, a comparative analysis using examples of Mount Rainier National Park as an analogy for management strategy was used. 2) Develop a good map of the area to assist with plan development: Specific recommendations of factors to note were, broad physiognomic vegetation types, trails and vistas, social trails, and special species to protect. 3) Compile existing data or information on impacts: 4) Continue to initiate research on restoration methods. A synopsis of discussions associated with the topic is provided. 5) Public Outreach and Involvement: Invite local school or interest groups to become involved in research and restoration, site “adoption”, raise plants, planting, and monitoring. Involve school kids in research (description of potential projects as done elsewhere).
