A survey was developed and was randomly assigned to visitors from December 1, 2008 to March 30, 2009. The surveys were designed to gather information in the eastern side of ANP (Jordan Pond, Eagle Lake, Brown Mountain, Ocean Drive, and the Visitors Center). From Intro: "This project collected not only general social science information, but built upon this by generating data about more specific concerns and issues. These include visitor attitudes towards management practices and potential visitor conflicts. For example, park staff were interested in visitor attitudes about snowmobile use on certain sections of carriage roads; grooming carriage roads for skiing; activities on the Great Ponds; and new uses such as ski-joring, dog sledding, and sleigh use to name a few...” Results and discussion of findings are presented. /STUDY LOCATIONS:/ /MOUNT DESERT ISLAND/Jordan Pond / Eagle Lake / Brown Mountain / Ocean Drive / Visitors Center
