During the summer 2009 field season, Bridger-Teton Wilderness and Glacier, Grand Teton, Rocky Mountain, and Great Sand Dunes national parks collected lake/creek water samples for an EPA effort to better understand pesticide concentrations in remote, relatively pristine, surface waters. A suite of pesticides were detected in varying samples, including the herbicides Imazethapyr and Imazaquin, the rodencidide Bromadiolone, and insecticide Imadacloprid. These pesticides generally range from low to moderate toxicity. Toxicity benchmarks were not exceeded in any of the 26 water samples analyzed.
