This report summarizes trends in groundwater data collected in or near all SECN parks through 2010, following the SECN groundwater monitoring protocol. This protocol compiles data from existing state and federal groundwater-monitoring wells. Trend analyses of 45 groundwater wells identified as relevant to SECN Parks are included in this report. An additional 27 groundwater monitoring wells have been identified as relevant to SECN parks, but are not included in this report since no data have been collected since the publication of the SECN groundwater monitoring protocol in 2009. 3. Both wells that are automated and those that are manually measured are included in this report. Automated wells typically provide daily groundwater water level data (25 wells) and manually operated wells typically provide monthly or fewer water level measurements per year (18 wells). The trend analysis for most SECN-relevant wells encompasses the entire period of record for the well, ranging from approximately 3 years to 58 years. Wells recording data for 10 or more years are considered to have a long period of record (26 wells). Wells recording more than 12 observations per year are considered to have a significant amount of data (27 wells; Rasmussen et al. 2009). 36% of wells showed an increase in groundwater quantity over the period of record for the well. 31% of wells showed no discernible change in groundwater quantity over the period of record for the well. 33% of wells showed a decrease in groundwater quantity over the period of record for the well.
