Acadia National Park Exterior Lighting Inventory
Kercell CM. 2011. Acadia National Park Exterior Lighting Inventory. Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, ME
“As part of the National Park Service’s promise to preserve and protect natural features, we need to consider the night sky as one of those resources. In order to protect it, our management team has sought designation as a Dark-Sky Park (DSP) by the International Dark Sky Association (IDA). Taking measures to become a DSP preserves our natural view of the night sky and attracts an entirely new sector of visitors. As a component of this designation, the park is required to complete an exterior lighting inventory. Compiled May 23rd-Aug 3rd, 2011, this report summarizes the findings of the inventory.” This report compiles photos and information on all exterior lighting sources for the park.
