The purpose of this Historic Structure Preservation Guide is to provide maintenance personnel with an information base for budgeting and performing routine and cyclic maintenance of the historic Old Point Loma Lighthouse. It was prepared in compliance with the NPS Cultural Resources Management Guidelines (NPS-28), which requires that such a document be prepared when a historic document has received its preservation treatment. The sections of the guide include detailed schedules and instructions relative to housekeeping, routine, and cyclic maintenance procedures. It is intended to ensure consistency in materials and procedures even if there are personnel changes. It was created to be a working document actively used by park staff. Working copies in looseleaf form were supplied to the park. Volume 3, included here, was not part of the set that was reproduced for general distribution.
