History of the construction of the Tonoloway Aqueduct. This report discusses the significance and struggle of the construction of the aqueduct across Tonoloway Creek which took four years. The slow progress of construction on the 27 miles was due to three major obstacles. One obstacle was due to a period of economic crisis and social unrest throughout the nation, which caused widespread labor unrest along the line of the canal. A second hindrance was the increasing cost of construction from the inflation of the decade. This led to the third obstacle which was the limitation of financial resources. Despite these obstacles, the Tonoloway Aqueduct was completed.
