High Bridge Ranger Station Historic District is located in an area of less than 1 acre on a glacial terrace at the confluence of Agnes Creek and the Stehekin River. High Bridge Ranger Station is a backcountry facility within the North Cascades National Park Service Complex that has been operated by the National Park Service since 1968. The ranger station was originally built by the United States Forest Service (USFS), and has existed in this location since 1933-1934. During the 1930s, this station housed rangers who carried out typical USFS backcountry administrative operations. It is one of three, including Purple Point and Bridge Creek Ranger Stations, remaining ranger station in the NPS Complex that is associated with the Chelan National Forest. Currently, the historic district is used as park housing in summer and as a search and rescue cache in winter. When needed, the corral is used for temporarily holding stock. In addition, the historic district serves as a destination point for tourists arriving by shuttle van and bus. High Bridge Ranger Station Historic District retains its integrity of spatial organization; its current layout remains as designed and constructed during the period of significance. High Bridge Ranger Station Historic District is significant for its design as an early USFS administrative facility constructed by the CCC between 1933 and 1934 and for its association with the years of early federal government administration of the public lands of the North Cascades Mountains.
