Located in the Charlestown District of Boston, Massachusetts, on the summit of Breed’s Hill, the Bunker Hill Monument site commemorates one of the earliest major battles of the American Revolution and consists of a portion of the original battlefield. As part of Boston National Historical Park, the property encompasses federally-owned land (6.12 acres) and city-owned land (.10 acres). At the center of the site stands a granite obelisk Bunker Hill Monument (1842) and an adjacent Lodge (1902) surrounded by terraced lawns dotted with deciduous trees, a series of axial concrete walkways and asphalt paths, fencing, the Colonel William Prescott Statue, markers, and memorial plaques.
