The American Bison is a symbol of the American West and an animal of conservation priority. Despite this, a herd of bison recently made themselves unwelcome guests on the portion of the Kaibab Plateau, Arizona, administered by Grand Canyon National Park (GRCA). GRCA managers consider bison to be nonnative and are concerned they are impacting Park resources including the sensitive springs, ponds, and the associated wetland vegetation of the region.
