Gregory MB. 2012. Water Sample Collection for Analysis of Nutrients and Chlorophyll a for Coastal Assessments. National Park Service

The following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) outlines the procedure for collecting water samples for the laboratory analysis of dissolved ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, phosphorus and chlorophyll-a. The purpose of this SOP is to ensure that field teams are collecting data that are comparable for year-to-year as well as to data collected by other programs using the same or similar techniques. The techniques and procedures outlined in this SOP are based on the USEPA National Coastal Assessment Field Manual (2009) with much of the information presented here modified only slightly from USEPA instructions.
