Time and the river: A history of the Saint Croix - A historic resource study of the Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway

McMahon EM and Karamanski TJ. 2002. Time and the river: A history of the Saint Croix - A historic resource study of the Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway. Historic Resource Study. National Park Service

This study is an environmental and a social history that seeks to explore the interactions between the land and waters of the St. Croix and the people who have called the valley home. It is a history of the land, how that land was perceived, altered, and how people adjusted to the reconfigured environment. The stories about the St. Croix that follow are about the dialectic between a natural blueprint and a cultural script.
