Work Plan - Subprojects of The Vegetation Survey

1978. Work Plan - Subprojects of The Vegetation Survey. Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Botanical Program- the program in plant ecology consists of several coordinated projects. The program in plant ecology consists of several coordinated projects. Three major elements -- the computer programming, the vegetation mapping, and the historical survey -- are being integrated for all projects. Data collection for most plot work is on a standard format. The hog exclosure plots, for instance, can be analyzed with the same computer programs used for the fire succession study. This saves researcher time and leads to better coordinated applications to management. Although a number of individual papers and management reports will be produced, the ultimate product will be an all-park vegetation survey and maps.
