The following study has been done to provide a better understanding of what is at San Juan National Historic Site and summarizes the historical and structural development of San Cristobal, el Morro, the City Walls, and the cultural landscape of el Morro. The historic structure report for San Juan National Historic Site was conceived in 1985 by the Southeast Regional Office of the National Park Service. The following study has been done to provide a better understanding of what is at San Juan National Historic Site, how it developed, and what issues need to be addressed in the future. This volume summarizes the historical and structural development of San Cristobal, el Morro, the City Walls, and the cultural landscape of el Morro. Also included are descriptions of the conditions and deterioration phenomenon of the fortifications and recommendations for preservation treatments.
