This report gives a historic overview of the Corinth Unit or Shiloh National Military Park. On September 22, 2000, President William J. Clinton approved the establishment of the Corinth Unit of Shiloh National Military Park in the vicinity of the city of Corinth, Mississippi, and in the state of Tennessee. The purpose of the unit, as outlined in Public Law 106-271, was to facilitate the protection and interpretation of resources associated with the Siege and Battle of Corinth and other Civil War actions in the area in and around the city of Corinth. The unit was also to enhance public understanding of the significance of the Corinth campaign and the Civil War relative to the Western Theater of Operations in cooperation with state and local governmental entities, private organizations, and private individuals. This report gives a historic overview of the Corinth Unit.
