Gap Analysis of Marine Ecosystem Data for NPS Coral Reef Parks

Gap Analysis of Marine Ecosystem Data for NPS Coral Reef Parks.

The NOAA Biogeography Branch collected and integrated available geospatial datasets to support NPS management of marine resources in eight coral reef park units (BUIS, KAHO, KALA, NPSA (delivered as NPAS), SARI, VICR, VIIS and WAPA). The NOAA project includes the collection of geospatial information and its incorporation into a single consistent geodatabase format. The project also includes a mapping portal that is available at: http://ccma.nos.noaa.gov/explorer/gapanalysis/gap_analysis.html. In addition to collecting geospatial information and creating the mapping portal, NOAA conducted a gap analysis of a standard suite of available information for managing marine resources. Additional gaps were identified by interviewing National Park Service staffs. Within the IRMA Portal, this overarching “Program” serves as a single point of discovery for the final report and for the park-specific “Projects” (see Project(s) section, below). Park-specific IRMA Projects can also be accessed independently using their individual Reference Codes. Notes: The final report includes information about all eight coral reef parks and is included as a holding of the IRMA "Program" as well as a holding of each park-specific IRMA "Project". Data for VICR and VIIS were collected, processed and delivered together by NOAA as STJ (St John). For STJ and NPSA the raster datasets (acoustic and visible imagery) are so large that they are served as multiple zip files.
