This report provides a plan for social science research for South Florida’s National Park Service parks and preserve: Big Cypress National Preserve, Biscayne National Park, Dry Tortugas National Park, and Everglades National Park. The objectives are to: identify the needs for National Park Service social science research in South Florida; propose a research agenda and specific research projects for the South Florida National Park Service units; and propose a strategy, schedule and budget for implementing the research. While the plan emphasizes the need for an ecosystem and regional perspective, and collaboration with National Park Service partners, it is not a research plan for the entire South Florida ecosystem restoration effort. Its scope is research critical to the National Park Service mission in the region.
