This article proposes a re-evaluation of the protected status of a woodland grass specie called Diarrhena Obovata which now proliferates in areas along the Potomac River watershed system. This grass specie was previously recognized under Diarrhena Americana, but was later given its own specie name by D. M. Brandenburg, et al.in 1991. The emergence of the grass specie affects the flood draining capability of the Ohio River, central Mississippi and lower Missouri rivers.
