This report covers the history and physical configuration of the boxcar No. 43651 on Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad. This report is the first of a two-part study prepared by Steamtown National Historic Site on Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad boxcar No. 43651. The objective was thorough documentation of the car’s construction and operating history. The car is scheduled for restoration by Steamtown National Historic Site. Part one covers the history and physical configuration of the car. Documentation includes car and corporate histories, specifications, evaluation of the car’s current condition, component analyses, paint analysis, and restoration recommendations.
