A systematic treatment is presented for the genus Chasmanthium composed of C. latifolium, C. laxum, C. sessiliflorum, C. nitidum, C. ornitho- rhynchum and a putative hybrid, designated C. laxum X ornithorhynchum. The treatment includes annotated synonymy, nomenclatural notes, descriptions, keys, citation of documentary specimens, geographical ranges and habitats.
