The rock fall hazard line for Yosemite Valley based on existing data and rock fall simulations. Data inputs for the line include the mapped edge of talus, the spatial distribution of boulders beyond the edge of talus line, cosmogenic nuclide exposure dating of select boulders, and rock-fall runout simulations (STONE model). This line accounts for boulder deposition due to individual, fragemental-type rock falls, which are the most common type of mass movement in Yosemite Valley; it does not account for potential deposition of boulders due to very large rock avalanches, airblasts, flyrock, or debris flow.
