Most important, perhaps, have been the documentary materials on Black Canyon at the National Archives in Washington, DC and in the Park History Program/WASO files at the Federal Record Center in Suitland, MD as well as the various monthly reports at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Monument. A broad canvas has been painted for Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Monument, with many of the major and minor details sketched in. Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Monument was redesignated in 1999 as Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
