Beidleman RG. 1965. Administrative History of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Monument. Park Administrative Histories. Colorado College. Colorado Springs, Colorado

The history contains information from a variety of sources on the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Monument. It also summarizes the administrative history of the National Monument and includes historical perspective on boundaries, visitors, grazing, hunting, water procurement, and wildlife management. This administrative history of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Monument is based upon multiple sources. Most important, perhaps, have been the documentary materials on Black Canyon at the National Archives in Washington, DC and in the Park History Program/WASO files at the Federal Record Center in Suitland, MD as well as the various monthly reports at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Monument. A broad canvas has been painted for Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Monument, with many of the major and minor details sketched in. Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Monument was redesignated in 1999 as Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
