The management objectives regarding cultural and natural resources are: to preserve and protect prehistoric and historic structures and objects; to manage the collection of cultural objects so they do not deteriorate; to restore and/or perpetuate the cultural landscape; to preserve ecological processes in a manner to perpetuate native species and suppress alien species; to preserve water rights and protect water resources; to gather data through research programs in archeology, history, natural science, visitor use, and land use; to monitor cultural and natural resources to detect change; and, to cooperate and plan with government agencies and community groups to protect the integrity of the cultural and natural environment within and surrounding the monument; acquire lands and/or covenants necessary for protection and management of cultural resources; minimize visual and aesthetic impacts of non-historic facilities and vistas to protect and preserve the historic structures and scene.
